Flyer and brochure printing guide

Choose a format people can use

Flyers and brochures carry the same ingredients—your message, offer, images, and contact details—but they organize information differently. A flyer is a flat, fast-reading handout for an event, promotion, menu, service, or announcement. A folded brochure creates panels, making it easier to lead a reader through a company story, product range, map, program, or detailed service explanation. Start with how much information the piece must hold and how your customer will receive it, then choose the size, fold, paper, and quantity.

Flat flyers or folded brochures?

Choose a flat flyer when the main idea should be visible at a glance. Single sheets are practical for counters, street teams, bulletin boards, inserts, and event tables. Choose a folded brochure when the reader benefits from a sequence: an opening panel, supporting details, and a final call to action. Standard 8.5 × 11 and 11 × 17 inch sheets can be supplied flat or finished with half, tri, Z, gate, double-gate, or accordion folds. French folds are available for selected 8.5 × 11 layouts. The finished panel size and fold order should be built into the artwork before upload.

Paper, finish, and quantity

Coated paper gives photographs, solid colors, and marketing graphics a polished surface. An 80 lb coated stock is a versatile everyday choice, while 100 lb coated stock feels more substantial and is often preferred for presentation pieces. Uncoated 24 lb and 28 lb stocks have a softer, more writable surface for forms, handouts, and text-led materials. Available quantities begin at 50 and extend through 1,000 or more. The right combination depends on handling, mailing, display life, fold style, budget, and whether recipients need to write on the piece.

Prepare print-ready artwork

A PDF is the safest upload format. Set the document to the final flat size, use CMYK color, and extend backgrounds and images 1/8 inch beyond every trimmed edge. Keep important text and logos safely inside the cut and fold lines. The flyer and brochure product page shows the available combinations and pricing. If you do not have finished artwork, create a layout in the online Studio or ask the team to help prepare the design.

File checks, proofs, and turnaround

Every submitted file receives a free technical check for production basics such as document size, bleed, and image suitability. That check does not replace proofreading for names, dates, prices, spelling, or contact details. Select the optional proof workflow when you want to review placement or requested changes before production. Standard production follows the estimate on the selected product page or confirmed quote. Artwork corrections and requested proof revisions can move the ready date; shipping time is separate. Rush service may be available when the specification and schedule allow. Confirm a fixed event or mailing deadline through the quote form before ordering.
