Business card buying guide

Compare business card styles

The right card depends on how it will be handed out, how often details may change, and what impression the material should make. Standard paper cards are practical for everyday networking and team orders. Foil adds a reflective detail for premium presentation. Metal creates a durable specialty piece, while NFC cards let a recipient open a chosen web address with a tap. Use the comparison below, then open a product page for current quantities, finishes, turnaround, and starting prices.

Standard paper cards

Choose standard business cards for sales teams, appointment reminders, events, and routine reorders. Kromekote gives printed colors a crisp, polished surface, while smooth cover offers a familiar paper feel that is easy to handle. Single-sided cards keep the message focused; double-sided layouts create room for services, a QR code, social links, or a second language. Standard cards are usually the clearest starting point when several employees need a consistent branded layout.

Foil business cards

Foil business cards use gold or silver metallic accents to highlight selected artwork rather than cover the entire design. They work well for logos, borders, names, and small details that should catch light without reducing readability. Foil is best when the artwork has clear shapes and enough contrast around the stamped area. Keep essential contact information in normal print so it remains easy to read under different lighting conditions.

Metal and NFC cards

Metal business cards are available in gold anodized aluminum or brushed stainless steel, with optional engraving and single- or double-sided production. Their weight and finish suit owners, executives, membership programs, gifts, and short premium runs. NFC cards add a programmable tap-to-share destination for a portfolio, booking page, contact card, menu, or profile. Because the destination can be digital, confirm the final URL and test it on common phones before distributing the cards.

Artwork, file checks, and proofs

Prepare artwork at the final card size and keep names, phone numbers, email addresses, and logos safely inside the trim. Artwork that reaches an edge should include bleed, and images should have enough resolution for the small format. Every uploaded file receives a print-readiness check. Final artwork can print as supplied after that technical review; choose review or changes when you want a digital proof before production. You can build a layout in the online Studio, or use the quote form when you need design help, variable employee details, a custom material, or guidance choosing a finish. Check every name, number, URL, QR code, and NFC destination before authorizing production.
